Terminal Hair: Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

Terminal Hair, thick dark hair that can grow anywhere on the body, can be affected by hormones, certain medical conditions and medication.  If it contains dark pigment it can be treated with IPL.

IPL emits a light which is attracted to pigment in the hair and converts this light to thermal heat at the base of the hair follicle, heating it to 70 degrees which then destroys the root.  Hair in the Anagen stage will not grow back when treated, but hair at other stages will have to be treated again.

IPL usually requires six to 12 treatments at four to six weekly intervals.
